If you’re looking for an adventure of a lifetime, Rupinala Pass Trekking might just be the perfect option for you. Nestled in the heart of the central Himalayan range in Nepal, this picturesque camping trek is one of the most beautiful and remote routes in the Himalayas.
Originally, the Rupinala Pass was a summer trade route between Nepal and Tibet. But today, it is a challenging and rewarding trek that requires technical skills and expertise. The pass is not very high, but it can be tricky to cross in winter. Therefore, the best time to embark on this Manaslu region trek is in April and May or September and October.
If you decide to take on this adventure, you’ll be accompanied by a fully supported expert trekking team that will provide all the necessary gear and foodstuffs for your camping treks in the Himalayas. You’ll start your journey in Kathmandu and drive to Barpak, a beautiful village of Gurung ethnic groups. Many of these groups joined the British Gorkha Regiment, also known as the Gorkhas.
From Barpak, you’ll begin your trek to Dharche Hill, where you can enjoy superb mountain views. After taking in the views, you’ll follow the ridge and continue walking along the spectacular mountain foothills until you reach the base camp above the tree line. Your trek crew will fix the tents for your accommodation, and a cook will prepare delicious meals while you bask in the dramatic mountain scenery.
Crossing the Rupinala Pass is challenging, but it’s also very rewarding. It offers unspoiled and incomparable views of the Himalayas, which are seldom seen by tourists. After crossing the pass, you’ll continue your trek toward the Boudha Himal base camp. You’ll cross the massive glacier of Rani and Gorkha peaks and enjoy stunning vistas below the tree line.
As you continue your journey, you’ll reach Nyak, a village on the ridge far above the Budi Gandaki valley. The trail down to the valley can be tough, but once you join the main path, you’ll feel much more comfortable walking. Finally, you’ll trek down to the Budigandaki river bank, where you’ll board your bus and head back to Kathmandu.
All in all, the Rupinala Pass trek is a strenuous and spectacular wilderness mountain trek that should not be missed. It’s an excellent opportunity for all adventure enthusiasts to explore the remote and rarely trekked routes into the lower Manaslu region in Nepal. So, if you’re up for a challenge and love exploring nature’s rugged beauty, this trek is undoubtedly the adventure of a lifetime.
